We collect information you provide directly, including: your name, email address, phone number, photos, physical characteristics, skills, location, and other profile details you submit. We also collect payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers), quiz responses, and account activity data.
We automatically collect: device information, browser type, IP address, pages visited, and usage patterns through cookies and similar technologies.
We use your information to: provide and operate the Service; match your profile with casting opportunities; calculate and display your casting score; process payments; send you activity updates and momentum emails; improve our matching algorithms; and communicate with you about your account.
Your casting profile, including your name, photos, physical characteristics, skills, location, and casting score, is visible to casting directors, production teams, and brands using the platform. This visibility is core to how the Service works. You can control what information appears on your profile through your profile settings.
Each member also has a public profile page at a shareable castingcompanion.com link. The public page shows the casting-relevant parts of your profile: your display name, headshots and reels, bio, city and state, skills, role interests, credits, the links you choose to add, your casting score, and the AI-generated “Best suited for” notes. It never shows your email address, phone number, ZIP code, or billing details.
Public profile pages may be indexed by search engines such as Google so that casting professionals can find you by searching, which is one of the ways the Service gets you in front of opportunities. Only complete profiles of adult members are offered for indexing. You can opt out at any time with the “Hide my profile from search engines” setting in your profile; your page then stays reachable by its link and visible to casting professionals on the platform, but we ask search engines not to index it. Search engines may take time to remove a page they have already indexed.
We use AI-powered tools to: analyze headshot photos for casting suitability; calculate casting scores based on profile completeness and market fit; match profiles with casting opportunities; and generate personalized activity feeds. These automated processes help improve your visibility and matching accuracy.
We do not sell your personal information. We share the information in your casting profile with casting directors, production teams, and brands only when our matching identifies you as a fit for their project or when you submit yourself to a casting call, so they can consider you for that opportunity. That is the core function of the Service and the only reason we pass your profile to a third party.
We also use service providers who process information on our behalf and only to operate the Service: payment processors (Stripe) to process transactions; email service providers (Resend) to deliver notifications; hosting providers (Vercel, Supabase) to run the platform; and AI providers to perform the automated processing described above.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Some information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your information; opt out of marketing emails; and export your data in a portable format. The Service is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
