Dannelle Fraser Gay’s path to travel television and podcasting started long before she ever packed a suitcase for a press trip. Her early experience included acting gigs that taught her how to work in front of a camera, connect with an audience, take direction, think on her feet, and tell a story in a way that feels natural rather than rehearsed. Over the years, her career took several turns. She became a professional chef and business owner, an author and award-winning travel writer, building The Traveling Cheesehead brand around her love of food, history, road trips, and the people who make a destination worth visiting. Eventually, the skills from those earlier acting days found a new home. The transition to television felt surprisingly natural. Instead of playing a character, Dannelle was now stepping in front of the camera as herself—asking questions, tasting local specialties, exploring unfamiliar places, and bringing viewers along for the experience. As host and producer of The Traveling Cheesehead Visits, she combines the instincts of a performer with the curiosity of a journalist and the storytelling skills of a writer. That same conversational approach led her into podcasting with Destination Diaries. The microphone created another way to tell travel stories, this time through longer conversations with the people who know destinations best. Today, Dannelle works across television, podcasting, writing, books, and public speaking. What once looked like a collection of unrelated career chapters turned out to be surprisingly connected. Acting taught her how to perform. Writing taught her how to find the story. Travel gave her something worth talking about. And these days, she gets to do all three.
