My name is Barbara… From North Carolina—Rockingham, Richmond County to be exact. Home of the races… Home to at least nine NFL players… Home of the legendary John Coltrane… A place filled with doctors, journalists, singers— A place where talent lives. And I’m proud of where I come from. See, some people come from small towns And only speak on what’s missing… But I am not that person. Because in that same town— I found opportunity. I was a softball star… A left-handed shortstop hitting home runs. I ran track. Had my own band as a teenager. Stepped into my first management role. Worked as a dental assistant. Owned a nightclub… and a thrift store. Walked across the stage as a college graduate. And before all of that… I stepped on stage at just six years old. My hometown didn’t limit me..... It introduced me. Today, I stand as the CEO of Empowered United Productions, LLC… An actress in over 11 films… A servant in my church… A woman who never stopped growing. And what I’ve learned is this: Focusing on negativity… Will never bring you joy. But embracing what’s available to you ..... That’s where life begins. The military taught me… Traveling taught me… Even living in Puerto Rico taught me… Every place you go Has something good in it. You just have to be open enough to find it. Stop dwelling on what’s wrong… And start building from what’s right. Because joy isn’t about where you are, it’s about how you see it. So wherever you are… Find the good. Create the joy. And make life better.
