Laura Munoz-Bottini

I’m Laura Muñoz-Bottini. I’m a SAG-AFTRA actor, a UC Berkeley grad, and I train with Howard Fine. I took a pretty unconventional road to acting—I started in psychology, working in a mental institution with penal-code patients, moved into sales, and eventually figured out acting was what I should have been doing all along. Don’t let the dimple fool you. I tend to play women who lead with warmth but have some steel underneath—the fiercely protective mom, the sophisticated woman in charge, the polished authority figure, or the mentor you definitely want in your corner. Recently, I played a mother reconnecting with the son she helped raise in Golden Child, and I have a recurring role as Beverly in EDACAF. I’m also producing the feature Girl in the Red Corner and recently wrote my first short, Still Here. In real life, I’m an adrenaline junkie and waterfall hunter, and I’ve always thought “no” just means find another way in. I speak conversational Spanish, have a passport, and I’ll work pretty much anywhere you want to send me. I’m also involved with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and volunteer cuddling babies at Hushabye Nursery. So I’ll hike up a mountain, chase a waterfall, take charge of a room—and then happily spend four hours holding a baby. That combination of warmth, strength, adventure and just enough stubbornness is pretty much me—and the women I love to play.
