Jonathan DeTrant is a San Diego–based actor, singer, and performer with a passion for telling authentic, emotionally compelling stories. A versatile tenor and member of the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus, he has extensive experience performing before live audiences and is equally comfortable delivering heartfelt dramatic moments, comedic performances, and high-energy musical numbers. Jonathan’s career outside of the performing arts has centered on helping others as a certified Peer Support Specialist and Substance Use Disorder Counselor. His lived experience in recovery, combined with his work supporting individuals through some of life’s most difficult challenges, has given him exceptional emotional insight, empathy, and the ability to connect deeply with people from all walks of life. These experiences naturally inform his performances, bringing honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity to every role. With a warm, approachable personality and a strong work ethic, Jonathan is drawn to projects that celebrate resilience, humor, hope, and the complexity of the human experience. He is excited to pursue opportunities in film, television, commercials, voiceover, and musical theatre, where he can continue to grow as a performer while collaborating with creative teams to bring memorable characters to life.
