Mark James Guerry

I am a third generation sheep and cattle rancher in remote Idaho/Nevada border high desert/mountain country and the Grandson of Basque immigrants. I speak Basque and Spanish. I grew up cowboying and running sheep. I worked in the lambing sheds and corrals in the winter and moved cattle and sheep in the Spring, Summer and Fall both on horseback and on foot starting before sun up and often working until dusk in all kinds of good as well as punishing weather. It is a lifestyle that is demanding and toughens you like no other. I also practiced law for 30 years and was a highly successful litigation attorney and practiced both civil and criminal law. I have 10 years law enforcement experience; eight years as a Deputy Prosecutor and Special Deputy Attorney General for Idaho and 26 months as a Volunteer Back Country Deputy Sheriff for remote Owyhee County, Idaho where I served with no backup for 2 hours on a good day. I loved it. At age 63 I completed eight weeks in the Peace Officer Academy and am qualified on firearms, stand up and ground fighting, timed runs and other law enforcement skills. In my 50’s I fought twice in the USA Master’s Boxing Division. I had to stop fighting due to damage to my right I that I sustained over the years. I’m a Catholic & 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and volunteer in Disaster Relief.
