Marty Backover

Born in NYC into a Jewish family. My grandparents were Russian immigrants. Grew up mostly at the Jersey Shore, but I’ve lived in many places, including Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Detroit, Memphis, Orlando and many other stops along the way. I began working for a living when I was 10 years old, washing dishes and cleaning up in my father’s corner luncheonette after school and weekends. Much of my life has been spent living in Italian neighborhoods and it seems that some of that rubbed off on me along the way. Upon meeting me, most people - despite my last name - assume I’m Italian. I’ve even owned my own Italian deli and sandwich shop in the Philadelphia suburbs. I’ve just finished up a 40+ year career in the IT field, a good portion of which was in the casino business. I’ve had the opportunity to work in many places in the USA and the rest of the world; all over Europe, Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, India, Singapore. I’ve been married 3 times, have 2 sons (now men approaching middle age), gone through 2 ugly and financially devastating divorces, now looking back on my life, it seems like it was total mayhem until about 10 years ago when I met my current wife.
