About
Mary Burkin is a performer, writer, and director, who has worked on film, in video and onstage in live professional theatre. Since moving to the Kansas City area, she has been cast as the lead in several non-union comedy spots, and been lucky enough to have worked with some outstanding production companies. She is a member of Actors Equity Association, and one of her most recent acting credits include Momo in the Coachella Repertory Theatre production of “The Humans." Her full length romantic comedy, FINDERS KEEPERS, was published, along with her short one act drama, JINGLING THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS. She has written and performed her own one-person and two-person shows about famous women in history, including but not limited to: Susan B. Anthony, Victoria Woodhill, Clara Barton, Dame Shirley of the Gold Fields, Louisa May Alcott, and Jane Austen, through her own touring company "The Road Show." She especially loves the holiday season, appearing as Mrs. Santa in parades, Santa Breakfasts, and Holiday Storytine events. Mary’s television and film credits include starring roles with Changing Lives Productions, and multiple "Rich Family Matriarch" roles (where Grandma always knows best), as well as multiple Independent film productions. Her other professional stage credits include acting with the Nevada Shakespeare, both performing and writing with Theatre West, the SkyPilot Theatre Company, Above the Curve Theatre, and the 2-Cent Theatre Company. Her full-length paranormal romantic comedy murder mystery, "Voices," was produced for radio by the HBMG Foundation. She holds a B.A. in Drama from the University of Southern California, an M.A. in Theatre Arts from California State University Long Beach, and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School. Whenever working out of state, she adores site-seeing on the way to set locations in a pickup truck, with her husband and not one but two dogs.
