Susan A Garber

I started out semi professionally in summer sock, upstate NY, in 1969. Did community theater before that. Up the Down Staircase I played the young girl who was in love with her teacher. I took professional acting lessons in NYC at the Acting Academy of NY near Carnegie Hall. I also took music lessons. In 1978 I lived in Santa Fe and played the role of Jeannie in Hair. In 1984, while 3 months pregnant, I was in Grease in Albuquerque which was directed by Frank Maio. He directed some Happy Days episodes and was the Dr in City Slickers at the beginning of the film. This was in Albuquerque. He wanted to cast me as Marti but someone who was connected to the theater made him give them the part. However, he told me to never give up on acting. I stopped acting until the mid 80’s when I auditioned for 1969 starring Robert Downey Jr., Keiffer Sutherland while living in Savannah. The director was Ernest Thompson who directed On Golden Pond. I got a speaking part but I suffered a medical emergency so I couldn’t accep. I remained close to the casting agent, Cynthia Stillwell and at the age of about 35 I was a stand in for one of the young actresses in Now and Then. I’m ready to return to TV and films
